Intern (m/f/d) Powertrain R&D

Denso - Wegberg - 30-05-2020 zur Vakanz

We are looking for an
Intern (m/f/d) Powertrain R&D - Diesel Systems for 6 months
for our location in Wegberg near Aachen.
//

Background:
Last years, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Systems gained importance for the internal combustion engine. The SCR System is converting the NOx emissions that are formed during the combustion into nitrogen + water and is therefore extremely useful to achieve future stringent emission legislation. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulations of SCR Mixers are used at AEC (Aachen Engineering Center) to understand Urea Injector requirements for future (post EUVI) emission legislation. An important part of this study is the validation of the CFD results on an engine dyno.

 //

Purpose
The objective of this internship is to validate and improve the current CFD model of an SCR Mixer based on experimental results. This can be done by comparing the NH3 distribution before SCR catalyst calculated by CFD simulations with the measured NH3 distribution on an engine dyno. The first task is to measure the NH3 distribution at different load points on an engine dyno. Once the data is available, the results can be compared to the predicted Ammonia distribution by the CFD Simulation. Based on the comparison between Simulation and experimental results, the CFD Model can be improved in order to get an accurate CFD Model of the SCR Mixer.
