Subject: Metabolic network modelling and in silico optimisation of microbiomes
working time 65% (25,35 hours per week), limited to 3 yearsYour tasks:
- Metabolic network modelling and analysis of landfill microbiomes in close cooperation with experimental partners
- Reconstruction of genome-scale metabolic network models
- Design and
silico
optimisation of synthetic communities
- Design and implementation of computational pipelines
- Supervision of master students
Your profile:
- Applicants must hold a Master in (bio-)informatics/mathematics, biochemistry, systems biology, systems sciences, or a related field
- Profound knowledge of prokaryotic metabolic pathways and OMICS data sets; knowledge on anaerobic digestion biochemistry is a plus
- Excellent programming skills (e.g., R, Python, Matlab, BASH, Java, C/C++)
- The ideal candidate has experience in flux-based metabolic network modelling and corresponding tools (e.g., Pathway Tools, KBase, COBRA Toolbox, CellNetAnalyzer) as well as biochemical databases including programmatic access; wet-lab experience is a plus
- Ability to communicate in English in an interdisciplinary & international team
- Willingness for short research stays in England and France
