Underwriter Property Treaty

for Latin America/Caribbean/Iberia

We are looking for an experienced underwriter to support us driving our business development activities.
Our treaty team has the exciting responsibility of supporting our clients in Latin America, the Caribbean and Iberia. This includes the reinsurance of existing property business as well as helping our clients to grow their property business and manage their challenges in a changing environment including digitalisation, M&As and new customer needs. All of this is done in co-creation with our clients and through the implementation of new ways of working (agile mindset and methodologies).

You are motivated and qualified to take responsibility for property treaty underwriting, nat cat modelling and the development of innovative products/solutions in the region. In addition, you are willing to contribute to our cross regional/line initiatives (e.g. parametric triggers, data analytics and small and medium enterprises).

Your job

• Contributing proactively to the Latin America Client Teams in negotiations with cedents and brokers, identifying and developing new business potential and new clients
• Performing risk assessment, pricing and acceptance of complex reinsurance programmes, including defining reinsurance conditions
• Supporting the team in complex modelling topics; depending on your profile you might assume the role of nat cat expert for the whole department
• Preparing and modelling property nat cat data with the models used at Munich Re including RMS Risk Link (DLM)
• Assessing and discussing modelling results with brokers and clients
• Handling the full process of underwriting and monitoring the existing proportional and non-proportional treaty business within your defined responsibilities
• Shaping the line of business, market and client strategies together with your team

Your profile

• Property treaty underwriting experience in fire and engineering business (including knowledge in all relevant pricing and modelling methods and corresponding tools, and furthermore profound knowledge in reinsurance wordings)
• Expertise in one of the following relevant field: RMS modelling
• Strong analytical thinking combined with high level of commitment, responsibility and reliability
• Solution-oriented with a focused, efficient and independent working style
• Eagerness to drive your own and the team’s development and learn new things; you are active in sharing knowledge with your colleagues
• Willingness to travel whenever needed
• Excellent command of English and Spanish or willingness to learn Spanish
