Treaty Underwriter
Our department is responsible for Munich Re’s Global Marine reinsurance underwriting. Our client base primarily includes Lloyd’s and Global Clients, who feature as the most sophisticated buyers of reinsurance.
In addition to traditional Marine business, the underwriting scope includes a wide variety of fascinating exposures and risks from the world of Energy, Property and Casualty as part of multiline composite treaties.
We are a team of highly creative and motivated professionals that is looking for an additional underwriter.
Your job
- Assessing treaty reinsurance offers, including portfolio risk assessment, premium calculation and determining reinsurance conditions with the aim of optimising volume and profitability in the relevant portfolio
- Structuring and implementing tailored reinsurance solutions
- Providing an excellent level of service to internal and external clients
- Establishing and maintaining contact with Client Management to service and develop client relationships
- Conducting negotiations with cedents and brokers and representing the Munich Re Marine position
- Monitoring insurance markets and working on market analyses
- Participating in the development of line-of-business and product strategies
- Enhancing the Munich Re position and becoming the first point of contact for brokers and clients as regards marine-related issues
- Developing in-depth line-of-business knowledge
- Taking on special tasks (e.g. participating in projects and reviews)
- University degree or another similar insurance qualification
- Experience in non-life treaty underwriting including know-how relating to the relevant pricing tools
- Strong analytical skills
- Solution-based and creative work approach
- Successful team player but also able to work independently
- Confident, engaging manner, very good negotiation skills and a strong client focus
- Commitment and willingness to travel
- Experience in project work is considered an advantage
- Secure command and application of spoken and written English is necessary
