As Process Development Senior Engineer, you will work directly with WW carbon team and vacuum process experts and collaborate with PHO cross-functional team in solving critical thin film overcoat challenges related to process repeatability & stability and ensure qualification of world class Carbon process and technology to meet new product requirements especially MAMR deliverables related to better ADC and Lifetime vs competitors. As senior engineer, you are highly expected to work with minimum supervision, equipped w/ strong analytical skills and determination, and must be willing to work under extreme pressure on time bounded deliverables relevant to the future of thin film overcoat to satisfy emerging new product requirements in terms of head reliability, ACC, and R/W performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct research and recommend brilliant ideas and feasibility studies to provide alternative approach in head overcoat process optimization vs baseline POR
- Collaborate with key engineers, experts, and worldwide carbon team on defining DOE proposals and process evaluations related to new technology requirements for next generation products.
- Work productively with cross-functional team and ensure timely delivery of optimum process w/ proper risk assessment prior to mass production with corresponding QA documentations.
- Analyze set of statistical data from experiments, and process evaluations needed for process modeling & simulations and qual builds processing for key decision makings of engineering and management team. .
- Work closely with Process and Equipment HVM team to ensure best practices applied on new process or technology transfer from Development stage to Mass production stage with proper handshake on ownership transfer.
REQUIRED:
- BS in ECE, Mechatronics Eng’g, Metallurgical Eng’g or Physics graduate
- Minimum 5 years engineering experience in related manufacturing field
- Computer Literate: MS applications Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience related to Carbon or any vacuum process manufacturing
PREFERRED:
- Knowledgeable in extended APC applications (Recipe Works, ProcessWorks, ARTIST)
- 6sigma yellow belt or greenbelt trained
- MS degree is an advantage
SKILLS:
- Strong analytical skills in problem solving
- Knowldegreable in statistical tools e.g JMP, Minitab
- Knowledgeable in vacuum processes such as Ion Beam etching, deposition
- Knowledgeable on thin film metrology tools (XRF, Ellipsometer, Raman)
- Basic understanding of Slider Fabrication Process especially Carbon overcoat (ABSOC)
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and relational skills
- Ability to work effectively multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimum supervision
