Job Description Innovation and technology leadership are at the heart of Clariant's success. Our Group Technology & Innovation (GTI) combines the core functions along Clariant's innovation chain and creates a platform for our continued profitable growth. To support the implementation of our investment projects in production plants and infrastructure we are looking to hire a Global Head of Materials Engineering (m/f/d) based in Frankfurt am Main. Responsibilities * Conduct technical supplier audits and recommend preferred suppliers * Qualify installation contractors and welders etc. * Evaluate best sourcing options by Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Analysis * Inspect equipment during fabrication and before delivery to Clariant to assure required quality * Inspect installations at Clariant site (acceptance tests) * Expedite fabrication process for equipment and installations to reduce schedule risks * Identify potentials for cost reductions through standardization * Optimize equipment specification w. R.T. cost reduction and quality improvement * Clarify specified requirements with suppliers * Collect"Best Practice"
knowledge and represent Clariant in external working groups * Analyse root cause of equipment damage * Coordinate external materials testing * Evaluate state of used equipment to be re-used in operations * Process complaints technically related to equipment failure/deficits * Due dilligence on Plant and Equipment conditions before Mergers & Acquisitions Requirements * Minimum Bachelor or FH (DE) degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering * More than 5 years experience in the field of supplier audits, equipment specification related to quality, inspection of equipment during fabrication and used equipment, welder qualification, installation equipment at construction sites and root cause analysis of damaged equipment * Experience with the regulations DIN EN 13445 / HP0 / AD 2000 / ASME * Experience with PMI (Positive Material Identification), PT (Dye Penetrant Test), UT (Ultrasonic Testing), RT (X-ray Inspection), VT (Visual Inspection / Visual Control), MT (Magnetic Particle Inspection), X-ray Film Evaluation, SP (Radiation Inspection for Examiners) * English and German language fluency * Chemicals industry experience and knowledge of respective processes and regulations is highly desired * Strong communication and negotiation skills * Teamplayer * High preparedness to travel Our Offer * We ensure a highly interesting, versatile and challenging work environment * You will be trusted with a high degree of flexibility in achieving your goals * You will be given the freedom to follow your instincts and develop a strategy for this competency center * We will support your further personal development with tailored trainings * We offer attractive and performance-based remuneration and the benefits of a modern, multinational company Clariant is a focused and innovative specialty chemical company based near Basel, in Switzerland.
