Your tasks:
A detailed synthesis of regional groundwater patterns and their dynamical behaviour is needed to assess groundwater quantity and quality and their controlling factors with the increasing anthropogenic and climate change pressures in the Mediterranean region. To this end, the groundwater quality and quantity time series will be collected jointly with the project consortium partners and will be subjected to data-driven analysis. These time series will be conducted considering the good coverage of different spatial scales, hotspots with anthropogenic or climate change effects, and a range of indicators representing aspects such as ecosystems services, sustainable groundwater use and protection, food security or human health. SMART indicators (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound), relevant at the national, regional and global scales will be identified. Then, trajectories and trends of groundwater functioning in the Mediterranean region and their controlling factors will be investigated. This study will help to provide better understanding of the decisions of water users, and selected mitigation options for sustainable use and pollution prevention of groundwater. The selected candidate will support the data-driven investigation and will lead and contribute to project publications.Your profile:
- You have a Master degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Sciences or any related discipline
