Global Strategic Sourcing Manager – Sustainability and Flexible Packaging
The successful Global Strategic Sourcing Manager will be accountable for the development and implementation of sustainability sources and supply related to packaging categories consistent with the company’s overall sustainability objectives. Further, the associate will analyse and recommend the appropriate global sourcing model for the dry bag category including cost saving accelerator opportunities.

Key Tasks:
Analyses the category spend and supplier base to determine the most appropriate sourcing model for the flexible packaging category e.g. decentralized, lead buyer, center-led network, centralized, etc.

Defines the sourcing capabilities and expertise needed to support the sourcing model recommendation.
Uses packaging category expertise and industry knowledge to suggest and implement sustainable alternatives that meet the company’s 2025 goal of making 100% of its packaging recyclable, reducing its virgin plastic use by 25% and incorporating 30% post-consumer recycled content.

Once the sourcing model is agreed, manages the category strategy and sourcing for a global spend of >$200 million in flexible packaging using the Mars strategic sourcing methodology.

Ensures smooth deployment of the global strategy through the Mars regions and sites.
Leads negotiations with global suppliers, selecting the appropriate path to market for flexible packaging.
Oversees the development and execution of contracts especially for key strategic suppliers.
Manages supplier relationships with current and potential new suppliers for flexible packaging.
Seeks to optimize supplier alignment decisions with regional collaboration in flexible packaging by leveraging volume, knowledge and supplier relationships.

Your Profile:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, purchasing or related function
7+ years of professional experience in packaging buying, preferably in flexible packaging
Knowledge of sustainable materials and recycling compatibility
Proven track record on drive for results and strong category management skills
Strong communication skills as well as experience operating in a multi-cultural, matrix organisation
Robust project management skills
Fluent in English and any other European language is advantageous
Lean Principles awareness and application
Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently and efficiently, with minimal supervision, in a fast-paced environment
