ABOUT THE TEAM

The SAP Core Platform team stands for SAP's technology layer that is used by millions of business people all over the world. In small and agile development teams, we innovate on compilers, virtual machines, higher-level application services, and development environments to make SAP the best-run enterprise software on all supported cloud and on-premises platforms.

SAP ABAP Platform drives innovation from the heart of SAP. ABAP Platform consists of more than 600 people located around the globe. We are SAP’s technical foundation and proud that our innovations are used by over 12 million people in 120 countries. For decades, the ABAP Application Server has been the foundation of SAP’s on-premise business solutions. In the new SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment, the ABAP Application Server is offered as Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) for cloud applications.

As a central part of our technology we offer developers from SAP, partners and customers several tools and frameworks for developing highly efficient business applications. An integral part of the platform’s development environment is for example the ABAP RESTful Programming Model.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a smart and highly motivated student (f/m/d) who wants to work besides his or her studies in an inspirational learning and working environment. We offer you a bachelor/master thesis contract of at least four months (full time). During this time, you will work with close mentorship by our SAP development teams. The subject-matter of your thesis will be the developer-oriented ABAP keyword documentation. The goal will be to analyze the existing documentation and elaborate suggestions for improvement, applying a scientific framework. Your tasks will include:

Analyze the ABAP keyword documentation on micro and macro level and identify potential for improvements (language, structure, layout, target-group orientation, ….)

Implement suggested improvements
Ensure the documentation adheres to SAP’s standards and guidelines
Possibly to elaborate a style guide for the ABAP keyword documentation

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Preferable language/translation student for bachelor/master degree
Strong skills and fluency in English and German
Ability to express complex technical information in a clear and precise manner
Eagerness to learn and experience agile software development
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Interest in software engineering and programming
Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please describe your experiences and skills in foreign languages as well as computer programs / programming languages.
