is looking for a:

Postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d)

Our laboratory has a strong interest in contributions of blood platelets to the progression of head and neck cancer, as well as the immuno(de)regulatory roles of platelets in anti-cancer immune responses. As part of these efforts, our laboratory strives to obtain a broad picture of the immune capabilities of platelets, going beyond their well-known haemostatic functions. In that context, we explore immunomodulatory and messenger functions of platelets in oncological, infectious, and allergic settings that we encounter and treat in our clinic. Our clinical proximity enables us to directly connect our basic research efforts to the patients we see and treat daily, providing you with a fruitful, collaborative, and translational research environment.

Your responsibilities:

  • Performing competitive immuno-oncological research at the border of “bench and bedside”
  • Taking a (pro)active role in maintaining the (infra)structure of the laboratory
  • Being successful in publishing in peer-reviewed journals and acquiring research funding

Your profile:

  • A PhD degree in the natural sciences (or medicine with additional wet-lab experience)
  • A proven track-record in oncology, immunology and/or platelet research
  • Experience with a number of the following techniques: microscopy (intravital, confocal, multiphoton), flow-cytometry, cell culture, platelet isolation and assays (aggregometry), western blotting, proteomics, RNA-sequencing, genetic techniques (siRNA, CRISPR).
  • Experience in -or the will to work with- murine models and apply for animal research allowances
  • Certifications in gene technology/biosafety, FELASA, and/or radiation safety are advantageous. If absent, the will obtain such accreditation must exist
  • Fluency in German and English
