European Controller (located either in Germany or the Netherlands)
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (located in the USA), the successful candidate for this position will work closely with our Global Corporate Controller (located in the USA) and senior executives in European offices. The European Controller will be responsible to manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from bookkeeping, payroll, treasury to tax compliance and financial operations for all our European legal entities. This position will be the senior most finance role for our European operations and will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed while playing an instrumental role in the growth of the finance department.Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting and reporting for all European legal entities
- Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
- Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations
- Assist with ongoing purchase accounting and integration of acquired business and technology as needed
- Assist in review of revenue recognition to ensure compliance with ASC 606
- Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid on time
- Process accounts and collecting payments
- Monitor cash and funding balances
- Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, and payments
- Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports strictly meeting the deadline set by the Parent company
- Play a key role in managing the month end close process
- Assist in researching technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with GAAP
- Play a key finance business partner role in managing the budgets and forecasts
- Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with senior executives
- Organize information and statements for local statutory and consolidated group auditors
- Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices
- Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
- Ensuring company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements
- Assist with special projects and additional controller duties as needed
Requirements
- A Bachelors/Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent, CA/CPA or equivalent preferred
- 10 years of corporate experience or mix of public accounting, consulting or corporate experience
- Strong technical accounting acumen particularly in revenue recognition. Work experience on ASC 606 or IFRS 15 a plus.
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong track record of staff management and development
- Attention to detail and timeliness
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently.
- Excellent customer service attitude and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong PC skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel).
- Ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.
- Foster a team environment that promotes growth and relationship building within the business unit.
- Experience with a mid to large ERP system, Intacct preferred. Experience with Planning and analysis tools such as Hyperion/Adaptive a plus.
