Basic Functions:
This position will either be located in Taunton, England or Jestetten, GermanyThe individual shall be responsible for performing highly specialized operational finance and accounting work, together with related management reporting and analysis for four legal entities within the German consolidated group. The German Group are comprised of subsidiaries of the US parent’s UK-based entity and the position reports to the US Group Chief Financial Officer with regular interaction with the Company’s Corporate finance team, the management reporting center for the Company. Amongst others, the individual shall be Responsible for the integrity of the financial reporting to the US parent company, with full responsibility for the Finance function within the German Group, including the accounting and controlling aspects of the manufacturing operations, compliance under German GAAP as well as US GAAP, development of the Finance function and improvement of management information as well as the processes needed to drive the business. The individual shall develop the annual budget as well as coordinate external audits, working with outside accountants for statutory tax filings for the German group of legal entities.
Overall Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for the integrity of financial reporting and the accounting function.
Providing financial guidance and support and advice to the local management in Germany as well as providing guidance on German compliance and other regulatory issues to the US management
Development of the Finance function including improvement and development of management information and supporting systems
Maintaining and improving the internal control environment
Preparation of monthly , quarterly and annual reports under US GAAP
Responsible for balance sheet management
Maintaining cash flow forecasts on a regular basis.
Drive the accounting function for the manufacturing ( 2 sites) through the ERP system (Microsoft A/X)
Manage and analyze the manufacturing variances in effort to minimize financial risk and E & O
Performs other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications and Experience:
Strong accounting & finance acumen including understanding of US GAAP, German GAAP
In depth experience in manufacturing accounting including cost standards and manufacturing variance reporting and analysis
Ability to develop and establish financial policies and procedures
Hands-on style and ability to work independently, with little supervision and meet tight deadlines
Experience with operating and capital budget concepts,
Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion
Knowledge of policies and practices associated with German payroll and benefits administration
Advanced ability in the use of a personal computer and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to effectively use a modern automated financial management system
Strong organizational skills and the ability to develop teams
Ability to communicate effectively in German and English both written and verbally
Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in accounting. At least ten years of experience in the area of financial accounting and manufacturing plant controllership, financial statement preparation and analysis, budgeting, cash management, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Good knowledge of German Corporate taxation is an advantage. Experience working with an automated financial management system (SAGE experience a plus) and Microsoft A/X ERP system.
