Full Professor in Macroeconomics (W3)

We expect the candidate (m/f/o) to do excellent research in macroeconomics. A profile geared toward macroeconomic questions in economies characterized by structural change or toward monetary and financial-market problems and their role for economic development and stability is of particular interest. An empirical focus is preferred.

The candidate demonstrates academic excellence by means of successful publications in international, relevant and peer-reviewed journals. An existing network of international research collaborations is expected. The successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding, leadership skills and the successful (co-)supervision of PhD-students and junior faculty are advantages.

The candidate will cover the entire field of macroeconomics in his/her teaching at the undergraduate, master and Ph.D. level. The master and Ph.D. programs are taught in English, the bachelor program in German. The candidate will participate in the disciplinary and interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs by (co-)organized by the economics group of the faculty. Non-German-speaking candidates are expected to acquire, within two years, German language proficiency.

A contribution to the research areas of the faculty and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (
) and cross-faculty collaboration via the activities of the Schumpeter Center are expected. Furthermore, the candidate will run research projects at the national and international level, contribute to the cooperation with the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) as well as actively participate in academic self-administration.

Prerequisites for the employment are a relevant university degree, pedagogic skills, a dissertation and a habilitation or equivalent achievements in the subject area. If the successful candidate meets the legal requirements, he or she will be appointed as civil servant permanently
