Director of Indirect Procurement (PR/271424) Tübingen, Germany
Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement for North America, the Director of Indirect Procurement will provide strategic direction and drive innovative procurement activities for MRO / indirect supplies, contractor services, storeroom initiatives, and capital projects across all North American business units.
Responsibilities
- Leading the transition away from decentralised category management activities by developing and deploying consistent business processes and systems across North America that support best practice centre led procurement activities.
- Working closely and collaboratively with Global counterparts and internal customers, such as Maintenance, Engineering, and IT to identify improvement opportunities and form working teams to jointly overcome tactical and strategic business challenges.
- Working with key stakeholders to determine and support business requirements, determine best sources of supply, and leading value generating efforts across the NA’s supply base.
- Mentoring, coaching and developing targeted skill sets within the procurement team.
- Develop a deep understanding of all business units and NA facilities, set category strategies, and identify strategic cost saving opportunities related to capital projects, IT, supplies, services, and storeroom activities
- Implement creative techniques and repeatable systems, based on up to date supplier market analysis, category analysis and category risk analysis, to effectively negotiate large contracts for supplies and services. Provide guidance and leadership to the team on both strategic and tactical supplier identification, selection, and development
- Develop and track key performance indicators / metrics designed to achieve department goals and support broader company initiatives
- Liaise with internal business partners to align with overall business strategy and needs and ensure Procurement’s on-going value contribution
- Build a strong team - develop / train / mentor team members
Requirements
- B.S. degree in business or technical related discipline
- 10+ years of indirect procurement experience – preferable in a centralised structure
- Effective team player with good communication, analytical and time management skills
- Strong financial analysis, process and system design and project management skills
- Consistent application of advanced and innovative sourcing and demand management techniques
- Experience negotiating contracts of all sizes and complexities using strategic sourcing methodologies
- Ability to develop deeply rooted stakeholder relationships
- Ability to travel approximately 25% both domestically with international travel possible
