At Wayfair, we believe that everyone – regardless of budget, style, or square footage – deserves to live in a home they love. With an Engineering team of over 1000 people, we’re writing the software and creating and maintaining the systems that run wayfair.com and our other sites, as well as all day-to-day business operations for the company.

How do you onboard 25 engineers a month and get them up to speed with a great new hire experience and in as short a time as possible?
The person who fills this role will be responsible for developing and delivering a robust and high quality welcome experience for new engineers in our Berlin office. You will collaborate with our recruiters and other teams to ensure a smooth hand-off from “in the hiring pipeline” to “hired” and with our engineers to get them from “hired” to “fully functioning on a team”.

This role will involve working very closely with engineering managers and leadership to ensure new hires get the welcome, training, and infrastructure support that makes them feel like they’ve made a great choice in joining Wayfair, and lets them get up to speed on their teams as quickly as possible. Coordinate and provide management guidance for technical mentors during onboarding program. Match candidates with open roles on appropriate team. Collection and deliver feedback to program participants. Termination and other performance management conversations. Coordinate with hiring teams. In addition to the operational responsibilities outlined above, the manager will also have strategic influence over the program as they grow into the role.

YOU Must have:
  • Imagination to envision and chops to execute excellent onboarding experience for new hires
  • A demonstrated ability to develop organizational programming facility and comfort with technology topics
  • Familiarity with agile workflows and practices excellent attention to detail and follow-through strong, creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to create and deliver training materials, or project manage teammates developing and coach them on delivering this kind of content

Nice to have:
  • Some technical knowledge relating to infrastructure or software engineering, and ability to develop and deliver trainings on these topics
  • Experience working in a large organization
The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating processes amongst large numbers of people and have a demonstrated ability to work well with software engineers and internal business partners at all levels. You should be detail-oriented and organized with a strong ability to keep track of many elements of a human development program inside a large organization. Excellent proactive communication is key, as is an ability to hold onto information that’s been shared and recall it when it becomes relevant later. Roadblocks inspire you to creative problem solving rather than a frustrated standstill.

You should like asking questions and looking for opportunities to improve processes, systems, and experiences. You’re a constructive problem solver. We would be psyched to hire someone who already has experience with program management, people management, and or human development, coaching, or other training delivery.
