Product portfolio optimization is applied to identify a few designs that meet the multiplicity of user expectations across market segments with possibly low manufacturing and servicing complexity. In this work, you are going to meet one of the major challenges in this area, namely, handling of uncertainties within an optimization framework. In the first step, you are going to identify and quantify significant uncertainty sources of a practical product planning problem of energy systems. In the second step, the product planning problem is formulated in GAMS and solved with a selected algorithm. At last, you are going to analyze the optimization results and benchmark them against a standard approach without considering the uncertainties

Qualifications * Education

:
master studies in the field of process systems engineering, energy technology, operations research, applied mathematics, or similar * character and working practice:

creative thinking and independent working style * experience:

practical experiences in mathematical optimization highly desired * knowledge:

good in statistics and good programming skills with matlab/gams (or other commercial optimization tools) additional information start:
