Post-Doc in Organic Chemistry

Tu Bs - Braunschweig - 27-02-2020 zur Vakanz

The group of Prof. Schulz at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Technische Universität Braunschweig is offering a
Post-Doc position in
Organic Chemistry (non-permanent position for 1.5 years)
This is a non-permanent research position for 1.5 years without possibility for extension.
The Project
Our research group is interested in the Chemistry of communication of frogs and other Amphibia. We identify volatile and semi-volatile secondary metabolites from scent glands of various frogs. Because the amounts of material is limited, compounds are identified by GC/MS, GC/IR and other methods. Proposed structures have to be verified by synthesis. Research is done in cooperation with biologists. The project aims at the identification and comparative analysis of volatiles of various frog families. Therefore, the candidate has to perform both total synthesis and organic trace analysis. An interest in biological questions is a prerequisite. The project is funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG) and will be performed in close cooperation with partners.

Your Profile
The candidate should hold a PhD in Organic Chemistry. She or he should have experience especially in the synthesis of natural products or a related field. Some knowledge of organic trace analysis by GC/MS analysis would also be helpful. Excellent oral and writing skills English or German language are required. Willingness to work in a team and self-initiative and a result oriented working style are required.

The project start is planned earliest for April 1st, 2020.
The Institute of Organic Chemistry
Our institute is well equipped for organic synthesis as well as organic trace analytics. Modern NMR instruments are available. Furthermore, various GC/MS, GC/IR, HPLC/MS and semi preparative HPLC platforms are part of the group infrastructure of Prof. Schulz.

Application Process
The payment of the position is according to EG 13 TV-L if the personal requirements are fulfilled.
The Technische Universität Braunschweig is striving to achieve equal opportunity according to the NGG. Applications of females are especially welcome. Disabled people will be employed if equally qualified. People of all nations can apply.
