Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Context:
Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission (COM) and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant (Resettlement and Humanitarian Admission), the incumbents assists IOM Germany’s resettlement, humanitarian admission and relocation activities in the mission. The successful candidates will participate in the implementation of the pre-departure integration model project developed within the German National Action Plan on Integration, which includes the research and development for the content and training materials of a workbook for participants of the pre-departure orientation (PDO) trainings and virtual components such as a website and a mobile app. They will further be responsible for the inter-linking of pre-departure and post-arrival integration actors as well as the setting up of study visits and a virtual info chat.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Supports the Senior Project Assistant in the planning, coordination and implementation of all resettlements, humanitarian admission, model project and relocation activities of IOM Germany;
- Assists in the continuous monitoring, analysing and evaluating of the project’s elements, developments and schedules
- Responds to information requests and inquiries of internal and external partners and ensures proper follow up of external and internal requests and actions;
- Assists the supervisor in compiling and drafting correspondences, concept notes, proposals, reports or other relevant documents or communications in the areas of responsibilities and supports with research on target group specific content to be used for online content and trainings
- Assists in researching, compiling and drafting, participant workbook, background information (such as FAQs or broadsheets), presentations or other visibility material in the relevant areas of responsibilities;
- Supports the conceptualization preparation of project meetings, workshops, study visits and trainings;
- Supports the preparation and implementation of operational, logistical and administrative tasks
- Assists in promoting and coordinating the project activities with relevant Ministries, governmental authorities, institutions and NGOs;
- Ensure that the information and data collected and recorded is correct, complete and updated at all time;
- Assist in enhancing the visibility of project activities of IOM in Germany
- Acts as a replacement of team members when and if necessary;
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or CoM.
Education
- University degree in Education/Learning, Pedagogical Studies, Social Pedagogy, Social- Psychology, Psychology, Migration Studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with at least two years of relevant professional experience, preferably in similar roles;
- Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with at least four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience and knowledge on migration with a focus on resettlement and humanitarian admission;
- Previous work experience with national, regional or international public bodies is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the field of education would be an advantage.
- Good organizational skills, including experience supporting project management activities as well as assisting in project development, monitoring and reporting tasks and administrative support.
- Knowledge of German and EU institutions and German and EU migration policies.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Publishing tools, as well as any others, such as In-Design, Illustrator, Photoshop is an advantage.
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written German and English. Knowledge of other official IOM language is an advantage.
