Working Student (f/m/d) Quality checks of Data Annotations for Machine Learning

ABOUT THE TEAM

Our team, the Deep Learning Center of Excellence, develops machine learning models to serve intelligent business services on top of the SAP Cloud Platform.

Data is the new oil and crucial for our machine learning models. We use scanned business documents as data set for one of our key topics: machine learning technology for automated processing of business documents. One of our vendors enriches those scanned business documents with so called annotations, i.e. information visible from the scan such as dates, addresses, amounts etc. The quality of those annotations is crucial for us.

We are seeking a highly motivated working student for our small data team that checks the quality of these annotations.

THE ROLE

We need your help with auditing the annotated documents provided by our vendor and checking if the annotations extracted by the vendor (such dates, addresses, amounts, item texts from scanned documents) meet the quality goals.

Specifically, your tasks are
Evaluation of subsets of processed documents to assess their quality, make sure the retrieved entities match the values in the document and that it is compliant with our guidelines

Spot systematic problems with these annotations
Discuss and extend our guidelines with our Machine learning experts
Gain domain knowledge for certain document types
Provide constructive feedback to relevant stakeholders
We expect that it is possible to quickly become acquainted with those tasks supported by other colleagues from our team.
The job is a very good opportunity to collect professional experience and get insights into SAP. We are a young team and offer an international and cooperative working atmosphere. We offer flexible working hours and remote work (during the Covid-19 situation, work from home is even mandatory). The average weekly working time should be at least 15 hours.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Required:
Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program
IT affinity and openness to familiarize oneself with auditing tools
Responsible and team player
Meticulous and detail oriented
Able to maintain sharp focus, even with repetitive tasks
Excellent English and German comprehension skills
Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, certificate of enrollment, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships). Please also describe your experience and skills in foreign languages and computer programs / programming languages.
