Nuvisan Innovation Campus Berlin (Nuvisan ICB) is a fully integrated provider of drug discovery and early development services. To support Nuvisan’s growth in North America, we are currently seeking a highly motivated, passionate and creative Business Development Director based in the U.S.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be responsible for developing new business for the drug discovery and early development service portfolio of Nuvisan ICB in the U.S.
Create the territory and account business development plan
Deliver according to agreed sales targets
Develop and implement strategies for establishing and maintaining international client relationships
Maintain & expand the potential client network to identify and develop new business areas
Market analysis to identify new potential customers
Creation of convincing and tailor-made proposals/offers on request from potential customers in coordination with the scientific and proposal specialists

Organization of customer appointments, organization and participation in events/conventions; set up client meeting, roadshows etc. to effectively promote Nuvisan ICB

Business development

You are keen to develop business with regular travel (meetings & congresses) across the US and familiar with/without digital communication tools to engage with your contacts and existing network

You develop and maintain regular contact with those to generate and convert opportunities to grow the business
You will define, prepare and develop the Business Development Plan, achieve Sales Targets and validate it with your line manager
In all cases you show the ability to maintain high level of understanding, of the decision-making process with all major sponsors & prospects. In doing so, you ensure that all proposal/contract details, client meetings, RFP information and relevant updates are shared between the clients and marketing, business and operations representatives at Nuvisan

You will strive in providing competitor and business information to keep Nuvisan as a leader in its fields of expertise in discovery and early-stage development

As a team-player you show your ability to work under tight timelines

Proposal development, internal drive & bid defense

You must demonstrate cross-functional collaboration with the Functional Heads beyond proposal development process so as to ensure that all information will be delivered on time to internal and external stakeholders

You support the contracting process in the closing stages
The ideal candidate will have attention to detail and an analytical mindset to review and help fine-tune proposals, aligned with the clients’ expectations & needs

You are comfortable & experienced in submitting and defending proposals with your thorough knowledge of the drug research and discovery space
Throughout the project you will ensure regular and formalized communication with project teams to secure the potential for repeat business and maximize opportunities for feedback

CRM environment & modern selling solutions

You must be comfortable and accustomed to the CRM environment in a modern selling environment
You keep constant information circulation with all relevant elements related to RFPs, proposals, email (client and internal), territory business plans, meetings, conference calls, etc. communicated in the CRM where you capture and update all contacts encountered in the sales process

QUALIFICATIONS

Completed scientific degree or comparable qualification, additional qualification in the field of business administration is an advantage
At least 3-5 years of professional experience in business development for a service provider, with a focus in drug discovery/early research and/or preclinical development

You have an established and extensive network in the pharma/biotech industry
Strong communication and social skills: you enjoy interacting at all levels and transmit key information to your peers
Being flexible and adaptable you can go the “extra mile” to get things done
Independent way of working as well as enjoyment of cooperation, reliability and flexibility
Proven ability to work as part of a team as well as remotely with autonomy. You have demonstrated through your track record your rigorous and self-sufficient aptitude

Must-haves

You are based in the U.S., ideally at the East Coast, but other locations are also possible
You know the U.S. market and your go-to-market attitude will create the momentum needed to achieve your goals
Excellent knowledge of English (business fluent), other languages of advantage (e.g., German)
Very high willingness to travel (50-60%) to clients and congresses
Proven track record in the CRO service industry
Experience using a CRM and associated extensions in a modern-selling environment
