Head of Department Satellite Control

• Technical and disciplinary management of the SCSW (Satellite Control Software) Engineering department in the “Software” area
• Development of a clear and visionary departmental strategy
• Leading a team of team leaders to implement department strategy
• Organization and implementation of regular department meetings
• Personnel planning for software projects as well as initiation of recruiting measures and participation in job interviews
• Determine and implement career planning and further training measures through employee appraisals
• Definition and improvement of software engineering in consultation with other line managers and software project managers
• Active further development of the department strategy with regard to agile methods
• Creation and maintenance of the relevant software processes, including support for projects in their application
• Establish and actively promote cross-project developments
• You will report to the head of the software department

Your Qualifications:

• Completed studies in a suitable subject (ideally in computer science, electrical engineering or aerospace engineering)
• Several years of professional experience in software engineering of satellite projects as well as in personnel management or in project management
• High level of communication and leadership skills as well as teamwork, a sense of responsibility and an entrepreneurial mindset
• Excellent knowledge of the application of software development processes and standards (e.g. ECSS, DO-178C, Agile methods, V-Model)
• Relevant knowledge of common MS Office tools
• Very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of German or the willingness to learn German
