The Robert Bosch GmbH is looking forward to your application Job Description While AI planning and scheduling are closely related areas of research, they often employ different solution approaches. For example, solvers developed for planning are rarely applied to scheduling problems. This may in part be due to limitations in the expressiveness of planning problem description languages, which in turn are closely tied to limitations in the planners themselves. Recently developed methods generalize efficient planning methods to problems with state-dependent action costs. At the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence we are currently looking for a motivated PhD student to work with us on investigating the question how well these planning methods are suited for solving scheduling problems

the focus of this project will be research on heuristic search methods such as a* search and monte carlo tree search, including the application of machine learning techniques for constructing strong heuristics., and applying both to parallel machine scheduling problems. * experience cooperation:

this includes that you collaborate with machine learning experts within the existing reinforcement learning and optimization research team at the bosch center for artificial intelligence. * networked communication:

you evaluate search methods on open benchmark datasets and on scheduling problems from bosch factories. qualifications * education:

excellent degree (master) in machine learning, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related fields with excellent marks * personality:

strong team player * working practice:

ability to work in interdisciplinary teams * experience:

deep learning frameworks is a plus * qualifications:

proven programming skills, preferably python * languages:
