The department Capital Partners/Prospective Structuring develops together with the business units structured non-life reinsurance solutions to help clients actively manage their risks and capital position.

You will be in charge of structuring complex reinsurance transactions, with a focus on technical aspects and development of new solutions. You will work out of NewRe with colleagues from Capital Partners and from other Munich Re Group Underwriting units worldwide in deal teams. We are looking for a motivated Senior Structurer with a finance, underwriting or modelling background.

Your responsibilities

Structuring

  • Structuring and pricing of prospective structured reinsurance solutions for non-life lines of business, internationally
  • Assessing specific client needs and analyzing the value added from both internal and clients’ perspectives for different solutions
  • Designing and rating of parametric products in accordance with latest technological developments and high level technical risk analysis
  • Modelling of complex transactions, incorporating underwriting knowledge from specialized divisions
  • Translating reinsurance structures into contractual documentation
  • Negotiating transactions with the client in a team approach

Transaction management

  • Leading deal teams for single transactions, involving external and internal parties
  • Advising client management in the early phase of projects
  • Providing technical guidance during referrals
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders before and during the closing phase of the transaction

Product development

  • Developing innovative reinsurance solutions and challenging existing structures from different client perspectives
  • Analyzing typical client demand for financial performance enhancements and deducing critical factors to meet needs
  • Building up internal and external networks for structured solutions and presenting to clients
  • Extending current portfolio of reinsurance solutions together with other Munich Re Group units and the corporate center
  • Supporting strategic projects and initiatives as well as giving of internal and external technical presentations

Your profile

  • University degree in quantitative, economics subject or geophysical/natural science
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the insurance, reinsurance or financial consultancy sector
  • Experience in the pricing or structuring of complex reinsurance programs or experience in financial and/or cat modelling, combined with exposure to underwriting
  • Know-how as project leader with good project management and interpersonal skills
  • Innovative and persistent with competence to prioritize
  • Strong team player with ability to both lead and participate in deal teams in a global environment
  • Willingness to travel on business (worldwide) as required
  • Fluent spoken and written business English; German or another European language an advantage
