Reinsurance Accountant

We are looking for university graduates and young professionals, preferably with primary-insurance knowledge, who would like to make our global team even stronger. We offer new staff an opportunity to acquire sound expertise in accounting before quickly taking on advanced responsibilities. You should have a keen interest in designing and implementing efficient, innovative processes; be an independent and curious thinker and be able to work with interdisciplinary, international teams in a fast-paced and agile environment.
Your job
- Independently checking and posting reinsurance statements of account
- Assessing and processing claims (from a business perspective) from our treaty and facultative accounts
- Handling large loss advices
- Administering payment transactions with our cedants and handling correspondence and reminders
- Entering and updating treaty data in close liaison with the business unit
- Close cooperation with our interfaces such as Claims, Asset Liability Management and business units
- Collaborating with and supporting our Middle Office hubs (Johannesburg, Madrid, Princeton and Singapore)
There are many ways to quickly take on more responsibility, for example:
- Helping develop new methods and processes aimed at creating an efficient digital working environment
- Contributing to automation and digitalisation projects and implementing them worldwide
- Providing training to share knowledge
- Taking ownership of an issue and coordinating it worldwide as a leading expert
- Articipating in cross-departmental working groups, initiatives and projects (e.g. IFRS 17)
- Excellent university degree (bachelor’s or master’s) in economics, business administration or finance with a focus on accounting, controlling, insurance or IT or commercial apprenticeship with very good degree; work experience, especially in the primary-insurance sector, beneficial but not obligatory
- Knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP (HGB)
- Great affinity for accounting and very good understanding of numbers/data
- Very good English skills as well as German skills (minimum level B1 combined with a willingness to reach proficiency) required
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills and a focus on results
- Confident and assertive personality as well as excellent networking skills for establishing close connections with internal stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work in interdisciplinary and international teams
- Considerable dedication and a proactive approach
