Purpose :
Software License Manager applies their understanding of software license models and Software Asset Management (SAM) practices, to translate the license tracking needs into processes, the objective is to monitor and enforce corporate compliance with software licenses, and optimize asset value. Responsibilities include - Assess the enterprise and end user license requirements and implement into processes to ensure compliance.

  • Accountable to understand multiple, complex license models and license related terms, and to translate these requirements into Software Asset Management practices - ensure tracking through-out the lifecycle of software from request, deploy, use, upgrade, and decommission.
  • Responsible for validation of software entitlements including expertise with respect to, license metrics and counting rules, virtualization and cloud concepts.
  • Partner with the contract negotiation team to provide information on software/license counts, metrics, and usage, as well as provide input on terms that impact licensing.
  • Support assessing how changes the vendor makes to licensing impacts the organization.
  • Ensuring that license entitlement management is maintained regularly is a key function of this role - throughout the lifecycle of the license agreement and product usage.
  • Ensure the license definition is captured in the Software Asset Management system (Matrix 42) and HPSM (ITSM Tool).
  • Serve as escalation point for the License Management Process where exceptions or questions emerge.
  • Use expertise to address questions, and know when to engage Contract Management or Business Unit owner to assist in making decisions.
  • Receive notice of Software license changes, provide data to aid in assessment, and participate in assessment as needed.
  • Proactively identify process improvements to ensure effective license management and usage - Generate Effective License Position and Compliance Overview Reports to Executive Level on a monthly basis. Point of contact for license related questions, proactively consult stakeholders & engage contract team as required - assist with 'fit for purpose'. You will be successful in this role if you have:
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY Technology Strong understanding of technology concepts as it relates to license models. Including multiple hardware platforms. Leadership & Communication - Proactive collaborationwith Sourcing, Vendor & Business Management, technology groups, Acquisition/Divestiture team, and Business representatives as required.

  • Ability to communicate complex license requirements into meaningful written and verbal communication for various audiences - business users, technologists, and management. Management & Administration Serve as a mentor to emerging License Associates and Specialists Business - Understand the business requirements and use of Software internally and externally.
  • Business Acumen - understand, assess and define ITAM/SAM to business strategy
