Graduate Research Analyst (m/f/d) –Automotive Technology

Location : Düsseldorf, NRW, Germany with 6-12 months secondment to UK
Full-time position

Founded in 1997, we provide our clients across the automotive industry with actionable insights and analysis in the fields of Connected Car (Infotainment, Telematics, In-Vehicle Apps, etc.), Autonomous Car (ADAS, active safety, autonomous vehicle, V2X), and Secure Car (automotive security and cyber security). We work with 95% of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers as well as suppliers, associated industries, and governments in more than 70 countries.

Our German office, based in Düsseldorf is hiring a Graduate, or equivalent, to support client consulting projects and to contribute to our continued growth and expansion throughout the DACH, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe region (Germany region).

Position Responsibilities

In this fast-paced junior research and consulting role you will be responsible for the research and delivery of client projects. Your key focus will be:

Detailed desk-based research as well as phone interviews for automotive client consulting projects

• Analysis of research to provide key industry insights and solutions
• Creation of reports utilizing your skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Attending motor shows to research the latest technologies
• Supporting customer specific projects ranging from vehicle or technology benchmarking to performance testing of prototype or production systems as well as customer or dealer surveys
• Opportunity to travel within the Germany region and further afield to SBD global offices

You will be based in the UK Headquarters (Milton Keynes) during the first 6-12 months to gain valuable coaching and training from our industry experts. Regular exchanges and visits to our SBD Germany Team will part of training to build up a deep understanding of SBD Germany clients and their needs as well as be part within German regions customer projects. As you gain further experience and knowledge in the role you’ll be exposed to increasingly challenging and complex work.

The role will be diverse and challenging and offers excellent prospects for career advancement to a Specialist position; either with a focus on managing research and report writing, or a more consultancy-focused role taking responsibility for managing the delivery of customer specific projects.

Experience and Required Skills

• A degree in either an automotive engineering, business engineer (Wirtschaftsingenieur), automotive business (Automobilwirtschaft), automotive IT (Automobilinformatik) or a related discipline, and a keen interest in the automotive industry
• Ability to research information from varied sources, identify trends and determine the implications for the automotive industry
• A confident communicator who can express themselves well in both verbal and written communications
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suit (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
• Fluent in both German and English with a high level of professional proficiency. An additional language (from DACH, Scandinavian and Eastern European countries) would also be desirable but not essential
• A thirst for learning and developing industry knowledge and the motivation to keep up to date with industry changes
• Excellent planning and time management skills and an attention to detail
• Willingness to travel abroad and to be seconded to the UK office for 6-12months in the first year
• German/EU Driving license (Klasse B-PKW)

In addition, experience gained as an undergraduate through a placement or work experience either within a vehicle manufacturer, systems supplier, telecoms or electronics industries would be desirable, but not essential.
