The
Center for Humans and Machines (CHM)
at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin conducts interdisciplinary science to understand, anticipate, and shape major disruptions from digital media and artificial intelligence to the way we think, learn, work, play, cooperate, and govern. Our goal is to understand how machines are shaping human society today and how they may continue to shape it in the future. The Center is comprised of an interdisciplinary, international, and diverse group of scholars and a science-support team.
To complement this team, we are looking to hire an enthusiastic
Research Assistant (m/f/div) | Focus: Communication
(up to pay group 9b TVöD, 39 hours per week, contract limited to two years)The cross-functional position requires beginner-level experience in science communication and project management while offering opportunities for learning and growth in areas like self-management, agile working methods, etc. As a research assistant, you will complement the existing science-support team of the center by self-responsibly accomplishing various science-related management tasks.
Your tasks
PR and communication- Draft content for web and social media
- Explore new channels for science communication
- Assist in producing the research report
- Support internal communication on various channels
- Manage the CHM Seminar Series
- Help to organize conferences, career days, etc.
- Manage visits of scientists and providing support with necessary arrangements
- Support managing large-scale research projects, e.g., with procurement workflows or data collection
Your profile
- Preferably, a bachelor’s degree in science communication, science management, or other management / communication-related programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
- Familiarity with digital tools and platforms for project management and communication (e.g., Trello, Figma, etc.)
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and external partners
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and proactive problem-solving
- Curiosity for science on AI; passion to help realize research
