Postdoctoral Scientist

Your tasks:

• Ability to lead a Z-project within the SPP Emergent Functions of Bacterial Multicellularity.
• Committed teamwork within the Z-project and with collaborative partners.
• Supervision and teamwork of dedicated PhD students within the Z-project.
• Development of functional single cell analysis methods to characterize individuals in biofilms, suitable for use in flow cytometry and high throughput cell sorting for omics downstream technologies.
• Application of population ecology theory in visualization and interpretation of cell and cell subset behavior, function, and stability.
• Bioinformatics background to analyze large single cell data sets.
• Skills in laboratory organization and prioritization of work.
• Amenability to other technologies and problem solving.

Your profile:

• PhD in biochemistry, microbiology, bio-engineering, population ecology and similar.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or Matlab.
• Experience in sequencing or proteomic technologies.
• Experience and background in data science and handling of large data sets.
• Strong interests in single cell technologies and in reactor design and facilities.
• Strong interest in the theory of population ecology.
• Ability to work independently and motivated in an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent English skills in speech and writing
