Our research group MigSoKo aims at understanding the causalities between environmental change and human migration. We are based at the Computational Landscape Ecology (CLE) Department at UFZ Leipzig, Germany.
We are looking for a motivated student/research assistant to support the development of an Agent-Based Model (ABM) for our Ethiopian case study. The model is currently being developed to analyze the various drivers of human migration in the context of environmental change.

Your tasks:
- Familiarization with an existing NetLogo-Model using ODD+D description and NetLogo-Code
- Analyses and refinement of the existing NetLogo-Model to answer our already defined research questions
- Interpretation of model results and if necessary adjustment or extension the modelling rules and assumptions
- Contribution to the MigSoKo team meetings, project synthesis and relevant project events
Your profile:
- B.Sc or M.Sc. in Geography, Social Science, Computer Science
- Experience in ABM development and application, ideally for simulating socio-ecological systems
- Very good knowledge of NetLogo
- Very good knowledge of R (or comparable software) to analyze simulation results
- Experience or strong interest in socio-ecological system research, sustainability and/or migration studies
- Social competence, engaged working style, self-organized and good communication skills for collaborative work and willingness to work independently
