Statistical Consulting, Teaching and Coordination

to commence as soon as possible, full-time or part-time (up to 60%), initially limited to 2 years with the possibility to extend to permanent employment thereafter.

Your tasks:

• Foster a system of statistical consultation and directly implement it with PhDs and postdocs across all UFZ locations
• Revise and coordinate a statistical curriculum, including teaching introductory and advanced statistics courses related to environmental research for PhDs and postdocs
• Supporting the UFZ science community in their statistical needs with your know-how, organization of user group meetings to facilitate the exchange of knowledge
• Evaluation and transfer of new statistical methods into the UFZ science community

Your profile:

We seek a highly motivated, team-oriented scientist with an exceptional expertise in statistical consultation and teaching.

• A PhD in a relevant field of statistics, applied mathematics and natural or social sciences
• Proficient skills in one or more of the major statistical environments R, Python, MatLab
• Experience in a wide range of advanced statistical methods, preferably both in a frequentist and Bayesian framework, such as multivariate and spatial statistics as well as mixed effect models, hierarchical modelling and handling of large complex-structured datasets
• Expertise in teaching statistical classes and workshops
• Experience in the conception and coordination of training programs is beneficial
• Excellent written and spoken English language skills
• An open-minded, creative team player with excellent organization and communication skills
