Student Research Assistant (m/w/d) in Berlin

YOUR MISSION As a student assistant (div/f/m), you will be part of our Conflict Transformation Research team at the Berghof Foundation in Berlin and work closely with and report to the project manager/researcher. Your main responsibility will be to support the Berghof component of a joint, collaborative project within a consortium of seven German research institutions that aims to monitor and analyse radicalization in Germany and to transfer knowledge into policy and practice (Radicalisation research and prevention in Germany - Berghof Foundation (berghof-foundation.org).

Was du machen wirst:

• Develop and accompany national, regional and local networks of radicalisation experts from (repressive and preventve) institutional and civil society backgrounds in Germany
• Plan and conduct qualitative expert surveys and focus group discussions with a broad, inclusive group of experts to monitor and analyze radicalisation processes in Germany
• Document project outcomes and develop regular publications for the dissemination of project findings within a consortium of seven German research institutions and at national and international conferences. Support knowledge transfer into practice
• Coordinate research activities with the consortium through regular exchange and reporting and for the purpose of data and method triangulation
• Communicate project news & results via social media
• In addition, further tasks will be assigned to support consortium-wide research activities and knowledge transfer

Starting date: 01.09.2022
Duration: Limited contract for one year
Location: Berlin, Germany

Was wir erwarten:

• Eingeschriebene/r Student/in im Master an einer staatlich anerkannten Hochschule
• Enrollment in a Master programme in a relevant social science field with proven interest and research experience in radicalization and extremism (prevention) in Germany
• Experience with qualitative data collection; expert interviews and focus group methodologies are an asset
• Fluency in German and English are essential
• Familiarity with the German prevention landscape is an advantage
• Familiarity with social media applications (Twitter)
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with limited direct supervision.
• Curiosity, passion, flexibility and perseverance
