Senior Researcher / Postdoc

Subject: Regionalized life cycle management approaches in the bioeconomy

working time: 75% (29,25 hours per week)
The position is available as soon as possible, and initially offered until December 2020. An additional extension of the contract is possible.

Your tasks:

• Establishment of an integrated concept for regionalized LCA approaches for assessing bioeconomy systems
• Validation of the developed framework in applied research projects
• Engagement in LCA research activities in the bioeconomy field
• Scientific publications on applied LCA methods

Your profile:

• PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. environmental sciences, environmental or process engineering, agricultural sciences, agricultural engineering)
• A strong background in LCA using scientific programming (e.g. Matlab, R, Python) is required.
• Experiences with bio-based systems and geographic information systems (GIS) are desired.
• The selected candidate will closely cooperate and interact with an existing group of about 30 interdisciplinary oriented scientists at UFZ and DBFZ. Therefore, it is required that the candidate is committed to an independent, self-responsible work, whilst at the same time committing to a highly interdisciplinary and team-oriented working field.
• Very good written and oral communication skills in English and commitment to solution-oriented interdisciplinary research are mandatory characteristics of the new team members.
