We are CARIAD, an automotive software company and part of the Volkswagen Group. Our mission is to make the automotive experience safer, more sustainable, more comfortable, more digital, and more fun. Soon, we'll be a team of more than 5,000 software developers and engineers, building the leading tech stack for the automotive industry and creating a unified software platform for over 10 million new vehicles per year.
We’re looking for talented, digital minds like you to help us create code that moves the world. Together with you, we’ll build outstanding digital experiences and products for all Volkswagen Group brands that will transform mobility. Join us as we shape the future of the car and everyone around it.
YOUR TEAM
We are a team of data scientists, software engineers and computer vision engineers focusing on the development of intelligent data filtering algorithms that allow us to identify the most valuable sensor data for improving our perception models. We are looking for a student who is interested in writing a master thesis about EVAA – an Efficient Vehicle DynAmics SimulAtion (https://github.com/DrStS/EVAA). The two-track model consists of two parts, a 11-dof model described in the Euler frame and a 3-dof part described in the Lagrange frame. Focus of the thesis would be to extend the formulation by introducing a coupling between the two frames. The thesis will be supervised at the Laboratory for Product Development and Lightweight Design at the Technical University of Munich. Co-supervisions are possible.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Familiarize yourself with existing code & documentation
- Research literature on 2-track models and the Arbitrary Lagrange Euler formulation
- Apply the ALE-method to the vehicle dynamics model
- Visualize the behavior of the vehicle
WHO YOU ARE
- Good to very good academic performance
- Enrolled student in the area of Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics or similar
- Knowledge of structural dynamics and numerics (knowledge of fluid dynamics might help)
- Knowledge of Matlab (Python is also possible), previous experience with cpp is a plus
