PhD in analytical chemistry of fluorinated substances

Working time 100% (40 h/week), limited to 3 years
Starting date as soon as possible but latest 01.07.2020

Your tasks:

Development and application of targeted quantitative methods based on LC-MS and GC-MS for analysis of PFASs in human samples and in human exposure media

Development and application of a sensitive non-target screening method for highly fluorinated PFASs in human samples and in exposure media
Development and application of chemometrics tools to evaluate screening data from (ultra)high resolution mass spectrometry, including structure elucidation of hitherto unidentified PFASs

Develop and run a human exposure monitoring program and provide analytical support in toxicology studies
Active participation in regular project meetings and joint training courses. Present and discuss own results at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed articles

Your profile:

MSc in chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science or a related topic, with specialization in analytical chemistry
Experience with LC-MS and GC-MS analyses as an asset
Fluent in English in word and writing
Social competences, high motivation to work independently as well as with an international group

To be eligible, applicants must have no PhD and less than 4 years full-time equivalent research experience from the award of the degree which entitles them to undertake a doctorate. Applicants can be of any nationality but at the time of selections must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Germany for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the starting date of the fellowship.
