PhD Reseacher / PostDoc

Start of employment: asap, probably on Nov 1, 2022.
For PostDoc, working time 100% (39 h per week), limited to two years (24 m);
For PhD, working time 65%, limited to three years (36 m).

Your tasks:

• Configuration, simulation and also calibration of subsurface thermal storage models;
• Implementation and verification of new features related to induced environmental impact;
• Documentation, benchmarking of the model, with support from other partner institutes;
• Contributing to related activities concerning report writing;
• Transferring the open-source methodology to related thermal storage applications (KONATES).

Your profile:

• A Master or PhD degree in the field of Applied Mathematics, Hydrogeology, Petroleum Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or other disciplines related to the above mentioned research topic
• Good track record in terms of scientific publications
• Experience and knowledge with Finite Element based numerical models are preferred;
• Established skills in C/C++ object oriented programming, experience of working in large-scale software development projects is favored
• The working language will be English, knowledge of German will be a plus.
