Join our Global Pet Nutrition team in Verden (Bremen) and lead small up to parts of large projects by exploring new raw materials and developing products and recipes to meet agreed project critical success factors. Work together with other regions and with counterparts in the Global Innovation Center to support new product explorations.
What would be your key responsibilities?
Delivering operational objectives of small projects or parts of innovation projects within the Wet Global Innovation Center team with a focus on raw material functionalities & capabilities (e.g nutrition) and physical chemistry (texture, rheology, stabilization etc.)Develop product solutions from initial concept that deliver defined consumer and customer benefits
Management of their activities from inception to handover to the regional teams
Collect and provide all required data on process parameters, physical product characteristics and analytical values.
Ensure products meet product performance attributes (nutrition, palatability, digestibility, cost) in line with global product performance targets
Organization and planning of product tests in our innovation kitchen
Apply standard and novel physical measurement methods to measure product/process characteristics
Proactively manage Intellectual Property risks and opportunities
Provide high quality formal and informal communication on progress of projects
Effectively manage project risks to inform and influence project team
Interface with Regional R&D Hub teams globally to facilitate transfer of best practices
Keep up to date on technical innovation, business trends, global competitors and Mars product portfolios for priority brands
Provide advanced technical trainings to associates to ensure the team’s technical capabilities are sustained
What are we looking for?
University degree in Food Science and Technology, Chemical or Mechanical EngineeringFirst professional experience in a technical role, ideally experience in food manufacturing and product development or related functions
Advanced knowledge in food chemistry with focus on raw materials
Physico-chemistry expertise (rheology, microscopy, tribology, calorimetry, gels & thickeners)
Ability to use software and systems for recipe development and project management
Understanding of statistics including design of experiments
Fluent in English, any additional language is a benefit
